Stranded South is Music, Media and Events inspired by you and delivered by singer and multi-instrumentalist Serge Villanova. Maybe with the help from a few others along the way. Our most recent projects are the production of the Harahan Music Festival + Food Drive which has raised over 4,000 food items since 2021, and the release of the singles “On River Road” and “Ghosts of a Ghost Town.” Serge Villanova’s debut record is due SOON and will be the first official release from Stranded South Music and Media.

Mr. Villanova’s vocals range from deep “bowie” like growls to high pitches and falsettos coloring poetry-driven lyricism. His time spent living and visiting Florida, Texas, and Louisiana are suspicious culprits as to the inspiration he draws from when creating music as well as clothing. Founded in 2018, we produce Stranded South Music using many tools including banjo, piano, guitars, mandolin, percussive instruments, and everything in between to bring you a unique listening experience while highlighting haunting, southern landscapes with our visual media.
Stranded South currently is releasing music from Serge Villanova, but we are working to diversify our musical offerings as exemplified by our latest single “Ghosts of a Ghost Town” which features New Orleans “alt-rocka country-billy serial killer blues” singer Shawn Williams. We look forward to collaborating with artists of numerous genres in the future.

With over ten years’ experience as a sales specialist and graphic designer for the Grammy Award-winning Basin Street Records, Mr. Villanova brings a heightened sales acumen and competitiveness to supplement his creative abilities to Stranded South Music. Mr. Villanova is proud to have worked for Basin Street Records president Mark Samuels and his array of New Orleans artists including trumpeter Kermit Ruffins and clarinetist Dr. Michael White for over a decade.
Awards garnered by Basin Street Records during Mr. Villanova’s tenure include: 2012 Grammy Award received by Rebirth Brass Band for Rebirth of New Orleans, Offbeat Magazine’s Best of the Beat Award for Record Label of the Year for ’09, ’12, ’13, ’14, ’15, 17 and Music Business of the Year in 2013.
Personal Musical Achievements:
- Behind the strength of his track “The Rhythm,” Mr. Villanova was invited to participate in the New Orleans Film Festival’s inaugural Music Initiative in 2019.
- His single “Down to South Texas” (2020) was chosen as #1 by Australia’s Valley FM 89.9 Sweet Sunday Sounds Daily Picks (9.13.20) and Track of the Day on 9/14/20.
- HIs tracks and music videos for “A Stranded South Christmas,” “Ghosts of a Ghost Town,” and ‘Summer of Love Down in New Orleans” are streaming now on Louisiana Film Channel.
